Hi I’m Greg Reid and welcome to Moving Machinery & Parts Limited, of which I am the Principal.
Here’s a little about me and what I’ve done over the years.
I spent my first seven years completing a Heavy Diesel Apprenticeship specialising in Caterpillar equipment with Gough Gough and Hamer in Auckland. This indeed was a great start to an adventure as during this time I went to the Antarctic servicing and repairing all types of equipment involved with the Antarctic Research Program at McMurdo Sound. I then spent time in Whangarei servicing Caterpillar from Goughs.
From here I went to Papua New Guinea working on a variety of projects, including Misimi Island gold mine construction, Polgara gold mine and later the Kutibu oil project. Duties included assembly and repair of many types of equipment.
I then based myself in Western Australia and worked on several projects including Lenster gold, Boddington gold and later the construction phase of Murrin Murrin nickel project equipment where there were 50 tonne trucks, large excavators and scrapers dozers.
Returning to New Zealand in 1999, I worked as a freelance technician in the Auckland area until I accepted a position as workshop Manager with Hick Bros in Silverdale, where I stayed for seven years. Hick Bros are probably the largest firm in the area with approximately 140 Caterpillar and Hitachi machines.
During this time I realised the need for quality used parts at a reasonable price as an alternative to dealers’ escalating rates. I realised also there was really an in-depth lack of knowledge in our industry at all levels and there was a real need for what I am now offering.
I am here to help and only a phone call away with any problems of any kind you may have.
